Pakistan: A large number of prisoners escaped by breaking the wall of Karachi’s Malir Jail, Police and Pakistani Rangers engaged in search of escaped prisoners

A large number of prisoners escaped from Pakistan late Monday night by breaking the wall of Karachi’s Malir Jail. The number of escaped prisoners is said to be more than 200. After this incident, the situation in entire Karachi has worsened. The army also had to open fire near Malir Jail. The firing spread panic among the people nearby.

Search for escaped prisoners intensified
Traffic on the highway near the jail has been closed. Police and Pakistani Rangers have intensified the search for escaped prisoners. Police have put up barricades in different areas. Investigation has been started to catch the escaping prisoners.

The wall collapsed due to earthquake
It is being told that a wall of the jail collapsed due to a mild earthquake. After this, the prisoners completely demolished this wall. About 200 prisoners managed to escape from the jail.

Prisoners snatched weapons from policemen
According to local media reports, the prisoners snatched weapons from the policemen and started firing. One prisoner died and five were injured during the firing. Three FC personnel were also injured in the firing. About 73 prisoners were arrested from different areas. Police have also detained 9 suspects.

Know what the Prison Minister said?

Sindh Prison Minister Ali Hasan has taken cognizance of the incident of prisoners escaping from Malir Jail. A report has been sought from IG Jail and DIG Jail. He has directed that the area be cordoned off. The Prison Minister said that the escaped prisoner will be caught at all costs and the officials who were negligent in the incident will be identified.
