Meanwhile, the delegations of both the countries have once again met in Turkey on Monday. This is the second direct peace talks between the two countries in the last two weeks. The meeting between the delegations of the two countries lasted for about an hour. In this meeting, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to exchange the bodies of 6000 soldiers killed in the war. Zelensky said in Vilnius, Lithuania that the two sides “exchanged documents through Turkey and we are preparing for the exchange of prisoners of war afresh.”

Recent comments by senior officials from both countries indicate they are far apart on key conditions to prevent war. Zelensky said 1,000 prisoners from both sides were swapped after the last round of talks on May 16. Andriy Yermak, the head of Zelensky’s office, said Ukraine also handed Russia an official list of children it said were forcibly deported and should be returned.

Attacks from both sides

Meanwhile, fierce fighting continues along the nearly 1,000-kilometer (620-mile) front line. Both sides are constantly attacking. Ukraine’s security service said more than 40 Russian aircraft were destroyed inside Russia in a Ukrainian drone attack on Sunday, while Moscow attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones. On the other hand, Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Monday that its air force shot down 162 Ukrainian drones over eight Russian regions as well as the (occupied Ukrainian) peninsula Crimea during the night. On the other hand, Ukraine’s air force said it destroyed 52 of the 80 drones sent by Russia overnight.
