Dhiman Chakma, who was caught red-handed taking bribe of a sub-collector in Odisha, is a 2021 batch Indian Administrative Service officer.

Dhiman Chakma, sub-collector of Dharmagarh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, was caught red-handed by the vigilance on Sunday while taking bribe. He is accused of being caught taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a local businessman. This amount is said to be the first part of the total demand of Rs 20 lakh. Dhiman Chakma is a 2021 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.

Vigilance team raided

According to the information, Dhiman Chakma called the victim businessman to his official residence and took a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. The number of notes was a total of 26 bundles, which included Rs 100 and Rs 500 notes. He counted the notes with his hands and kept them in the drawer of the office table. Later, when the vigilance team raided, the bribe was confirmed in chemical tests from both his hands and the drawer.

47 lakh cash recovered from the house

When the vigilance team searched his official residence, another 47 lakh cash was recovered from there. The total amount recovered so far has reached 57 lakhs. At present, the search operation is going on and more revelations are expected in the future.

In this case, a case has been registered in the Vigilance Cell police station under case number 6/2025 under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and the Amendment Act of 2018. Raids and investigation are still going on and more revelations are expected soon.
