He said that those who have taken the law into their own hands will be dealt with strictly.

Why is there unrest in the area

The CM said that the law and order situation in Dhubri has remained challenging for the last one week. He said that on June 7, the day after Bakrid, a riot took place in front of Hanuman temple in Dhubri district headquarters. A cow’s head was found, after which people from both Hindu and Muslim communities had appealed for peace and harmony. Sharma said that however, the next day again a cow’s head was placed in front of the temple and stone pelting took place at night. He said that a day before Bakrid, an organization called ‘Nabeen Bangla’ had pasted ‘provocative posters’, which expressed the intention to include Dhubri in Bangladesh.
