Himachal: Himachal Pradesh High Court directed the police not to take any punitive action against Rajiv Bindal and Sukhram Chaudhary in the FIR case registered against them.

Himachal: The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to BJP state president Rajiv Bindal and party MLA from Paonta Sahib Sukhram Chaudhary. At the same time, the court told the police not to take any punitive action against them in the case of attempt to murder and unlawful assembly registered against them in connection with the June 13 violence.

Justice Virendra Singh granted relief to Bindal and Chaudhary, who had alleged that the case was politically motivated. The court directed the police not to take ‘any punitive action’ against them. Now the case will be listed on June 24.

More than 10 people were injured

Sirmaur police had registered a case of attempt to murder against BJP leaders and several others in connection with the stone pelting incident on Friday. More than 10 people, including policemen, were injured in the incident.

The incident took place in protest against a Hindu woman allegedly eloping with a Muslim man. On Friday (June 13), agitated Hindu organisations gathered in Majra and started moving towards the man’s house with sticks and sharp weapons. After this, stone pelting started between the two groups in which policemen were also injured.

Section 163 of BNSS imposed in four villages

Four people have already been arrested in this case. After the stone pelting incident on Friday evening, prohibitory orders have been imposed in four villages of Paonta Sahib area – Kiratpur, Malio, Fatehpur and Missarwala till June 19 under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS).

However, the police traced the girl on June 14 (Saturday) and a video made by her on June 12 went viral, in which she said that she is 18 years old and has gone with the boy of her own free will. She also requested the Sirmaur Superintendent of Police (SP) that if her family has lodged any complaint against the boy and his family, then no action should be taken against them.

Harshvardhan Chauhan targeted BJP

Meanwhile, state Industry Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan targeted BJP and said that it is politicizing this incident. He said that opposition parties and social organizations should avoid giving religious color to such incidents.
