PM Modi said in his speech that Odisha is the divine star of India’s heritage. Odisha has been enriching Indian civilization, our culture for hundreds of years. Mahaprabhu Jagannath is both worshipable and inspiration for us and with the blessings of Mahaprabhu, the issues related to the Srimandir have also been resolved. As soon as the government was formed here, all the four doors of the Srimandir were opened. The Ratna Bhandar of the Srimandir has also been opened. This is not a matter of politics or victory. This is an act of respecting the faith of crores of devotees.
PM Modi said that two days ago I went to Canada for the G7 summit. US President Trump called me. He said that since you have come to Canada, you should go via Washington. We will have dinner and talk. He invited me. I told Trump that thank you for your invitation, it is very important for me to go to the land of Mahaprabhu. That is why I politely refused his invitation and your love and devotion to Mahaprabhu has brought me to this land.
PM Modi said that for decades after independence, people in the country have seen the Congress model. There was neither good governance in the Congress model nor was the life of the people easy. Stalling, hanging, misleading development projects, rampant corruption, this was the identity of the Congress model of development. Now the country has been seeing the BJP model of development on a large scale for the last few years. In the last decade, there are many states in the country where BJP governments were formed for the first time. Not only has the government changed in these states, but a new era of social and economic change has also begun.
PM Modi said that Odisha was also struggling with many problems for decades. The poor and the farmers were not able to get their full rights. Corruption and red tape were dominant. Odisha’s infrastructure was in a bad state. Many challenges had become Odisha’s misfortune. In the last one year, the BJP government has worked with full strength to solve these challenges. The double engine of development that has run here is also showing its benefits. Even today, the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects worth thousands of crores of rupees here also bears the mark of the double engine.
PM Modi said that I was born in Gujarat. If you walk even two steps in Surat, you will find some Odia person. A lot of people from Odisha live there. They will get free treatment there too. Earlier, the farmers of Odisha were not able to get the full benefit of the Kisan Samman Nidhi. Today people are getting the benefits of the schemes of both the central and state governments. Whatever guarantees we had given to mothers, sisters, farmers and youth during the elections, they have been implemented at a fast pace.
PM Modi said that the party which ruled the country for a long time, used the tribals for its politics. These people neither gave development nor participation to the tribal society. These people pushed a large part of the country into the fire of Naxalism, violence and atrocities. The situation was such that before 2014, more than 125 tribal dominated districts in the country were in the grip of Naxal violence. Tribal areas were defamed in the name of Red Corridor. Most of these districts were declared backward and the responsibility was washed off.
PM Modi said that with the speed at which action is being taken against Naxalites, tribal society will soon get freedom from violence. Naxalism will end in the country, this is Modi’s guarantee. For the first time, two very big national schemes have been made in the country for tribal development. More than 1 lakh crore is being spent on these two schemes. The country’s first tribal woman President, Odisha’s daughter President Draupadi Murmu guided us for this scheme.
PM Modi said that the development of 21st century India will gain momentum from Eastern India. This is the period of Purvodaya. With this feeling, we are engaged in the development of entire Eastern India including Odisha. After the formation of BJP government here a year ago, this campaign has gained more momentum. Industrial areas are expanding from Paradip to Jarsuguda in Odisha. The central government is spending thousands of crores of rupees on road, rail and air connectivity in Odisha.
PM Modi said that to achieve big goals, we have to look far ahead. We have to have a vision. The Odisha BJP government also has a roadmap for 2047, when the country will complete 100 years of independence. I am confident that we will definitely achieve every goal with the strength of the talented and hardworking youth of Odisha. Together we will take Odisha to new heights.
