The Delhi government has been working on the demolition of illegal slums for the past few days. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party started a campaign against the demolition of slums. Kejriwal protested at Jantar Mantar at 10 am on Sunday. All the big leaders of the party including Kejriwal participated in this protest.
Arvind Kejriwal targeted the BJP and said that I had said before the elections that the BJP government will demolish all the houses in 1 year. But it has been only 5 months since this government came to power and they have made Delhi in such a condition that we had to come to Jantar Mantar to protest.
‘Where there is a slum, there is a ground’
Arvind Kejriwal said in a statement at Jantar Mantar that before the elections, Modi ji had said that where there is a slum, there is a house. But he meant that where there is a slum, there is a ground. He said that our Prime Minister is a liar. Modi’s guarantee is false. Further, he said that there is not a single city in the world where work can be done without the poor. If we demolish them, who will work? Everyone from your security guard to your workers come from these slums. If the slums are demolished, Delhi will come to a standstill.
‘BJP government will soon be out of power’
Kejriwal said that a BJP leader was saying that all the slums will be demolished. 40 lakh people live in slums. If these people come on the streets, then BJP people will be in trouble. If the BJP government does this, we will protest. He said that if the Rekha government works in this way, then their government will not be able to last even 3 years. He said that we left Delhi in good condition but they ruined Delhi.
Also took aim on electricity and school fees
Kejriwal said that the people of Delhi are troubled by power cuts. I live 2 km away from Rashtrapati Bhavan. Power is cut for seven hours at a time. He said that we did not allow the fees of private schools to increase for 10 years. But as soon as their government was formed, the schools increased the fees by lakhs of rupees. He also targeted Congress and said that during Congress rule, fees used to increase every year. These are the schools of BJP and Congress
Mohalla clinics were made Arogya Mandir
Kejriwal told the public that we had built Mohalla clinics. BJP is whitewashing them and calling them Arogya Mandir. The condition of sewer drains is also the same. He said that they are running the government not for the public but for money. BJP has come to Delhi after 25 years. They must be thinking of filling their pockets first. He said that these people are busy only in filing FIRs against our leaders. If their condition remains like this, then their party will not come to power for 50 years. He said that both BJP and Congress are brothers. Both come to power with money and then make money from power.
‘Thousands of people were made homeless’- Atishi
Atishi said that before the elections, BJP leaders used to go to different slums and used to stay there overnight. They used to eat food in their homes, play carrom with their children and promised to give them houses at the same place where the slum is. Arvind Kejriwal had said even then that these leaders are not coming to your slum to eat food but to conduct a survey and this is what happened. After winning the election, bulldozers were used everywhere in Delhi, be it Madrasi Camp or Kalkaji, and thousands of people were made homeless.
She said that when I went to Madrasi Camp, the people there said that as long as Arvind Kejriwal was the Chief Minister, they never allowed their houses to be demolished. Arvind Kejriwal used to say remove poverty but BJP says remove the poor. They left the slum dwellers in boiling oil.
She said that the country runs on the strength of the poor, now he says that he will use this strength to save his house and employment. In this campaign, Aam Aadmi Party stands with the people. Whether they have to go to jail or have to face lathi charge. Aam Aadmi Party will keep fighting for you till the last room of blood. BJP wants to give your land to its friends.
‘Not Bharatiya Janata Party, Bharatiya Jhootha Party’- Sanjay
AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that before the Delhi assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal had said that the BJP government will bulldoze the houses of the poor. Not only Delhi, the houses of people from UP, Bihar and Purvanchal are also being demolished. The public has to answer this in the elections. He said that before the elections, BJP leaders and ministers used to say that this is Modi’s guarantee, where there is a slum, there will be a house. But this is not Bharatiya Janata Party but Bharatiya Jhootha Party. BJP leaders came to your houses, ate your salt and then betrayed your trust.
Sanjay said that when we say why the houses of these people living for 40/40 years are being demolished, the BJP people say that these people are Rohingyas. I have raised your voice in the Parliament as well. Arvind Kejriwal has always stood for you. It is the responsibility of all of you to stand shoulder to shoulder with him and help wipe out the BJP across the country. Recently, he won in Punjab and Gujarat. The fight for your schools and hospitals has to be taken across the country. He said that those who are chasing away people from Bihar and Purvanchal by calling them Rohingyas, you have to fight against them.
