Former Gujarat Congress President and Rajya Sabha MP Shakti Singh Gohil has leveled serious allegations of corruption against the BJP government. He claimed that corruption is taking place in all government works in Gujarat. Gohil said that transparency is not being maintained in awarding government contracts and instead of giving contracts to the lowest bidder, work is being distributed on the basis of bribes.
While speaking to the media, Gohil slammed the BJP government. He said that ‘government contracts in Gujarat are being distributed from the BJP office. Bribes have to be paid even for works like building bridges. No work is available here without paying money.’ He also alleged that the contractors who bid the lowest are deliberately ignored, due to which public money is being misused.
Government did not learn a lesson from the Morbi bridge accident: Gohil
Gohil has raised questions on the working style of the government, referring to the Morbi bridge accident in 2022. He said that ‘the government has not learned any lesson from the Morbi incident. Despite such a big incident, no check is being put on corruption.’ He claimed that such incidents are happening repeatedly, but the local administration has completely failed to investigate them impartially.
Gohil raised questions on the working style of CBI
Gohil has demanded that all these cases be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He said that ‘the local administration works under the pressure of BJP. Therefore, impartial investigation is not possible. CBI should conduct a thorough investigation of these corruption cases and repeated incidents.’ He appealed to the public to raise their voice against corruption and oppose the policies of BJP.
We will fight against corruption in Gujarat till our last breath: Gohil
Gohil also said that the Congress party is continuously fighting against corruption in Gujarat. He took a dig at the BJP and said that ‘they talk of corruption-free India. But corruption is at its peak in their own stronghold.’ On which they have not taken any action. He promised that Congress will raise these issues in the Assembly and Parliament and will protect the interests of the public.
