The weather department is continuously predicting the possibility of rain, but the people of Delhi-NCR are still waiting for the rain. Sometimes dark clouds are seen in the sky, but the clouds are not raining.
People are troubled by the strong sunlight and humid heat during the day. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in Delhi-NCR on Friday. On the other hand, the rain continues throughout North India including UP, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Jammu.
Rivers in spate in many states
Rivers are in spate in many states of the country including Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The water level of rivers has also increased significantly in Prayagraj and Varanasi of UP.
Floods in the Ganges and other rivers in about 20 districts including Patna in Bihar have flooded houses and shops. Apart from Jharkhand and Bihar, red and orange alerts have also been issued in some other states.
Heavy rain warning in Rajasthan
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in many parts of Rajasthan on Friday. The department said that light to moderate rain is expected in Bikaner division for the next two days and light rain is expected only at a few places in Jodhpur division.
Jammu and Kashmir Information Department had announced that the Amarnath Yatra has been suspended from Pahalgam and Baltal base camps on Thursday due to continuous rains for the last two days.
Repair work of Amarnath Yatra routes continues
In fact, urgent repair work is being done on the pilgrimage routes affected by heavy rains. Jammu and Kashmir Public Relations Department said in a statement, “Due to the rains for the last two days, repair work of tracks on both the routes has become necessary.”
Due to continuous heavy rains in Kerala, a landslide occurred in Kozhikode district on Thursday and water also entered the houses. Due to heavy rains in Kasaragod district, the water level of various rivers including Uppala, Manjeshwaram, Madhur and Puthige increased.
IMD has issued a red alert in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts due to continued heavy rains. Red alert has been issued for Kannur and Kasargod for the next three days, for Kozhikode on July 19 and 20 and for Mallapuram on July 20.
Heavy rain warning in Dehradun
Intermittent rain continues in Dehradun as well. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in Dehradun in the next seven days. Heavy torrential rain is possible during these days.
