Balangir: A strange and shocking incident has come to light from Tentulikhunti village in Balangir district of Odisha. Here a person ate a live cobra snake in a drunken state. According to the information, the young man put the cobra snake in his mouth in a drunken state and started chewing it. It is being told that he broke the snake into several pieces and swallowed it.
How did this incident happen?
This incident happened when the young man was completely intoxicated. When his family members saw him, his condition was very serious. He was immediately taken to Bhimbhoi Medical College for treatment, where a team of doctors is treating him.
The condition of the young man is currently very critical and he has been kept under special observation. There is a possibility of poison spreading in his body due to swallowing a live snake, which can make the situation more serious.
What did the doctor say?
The doctor of Bhimbhoi hospital said, “I came to know that a person has swallowed a snake by cutting it into pieces. This scene looks very horrific. Common people think that if a person has swallowed or eaten a snake then that person does not survive but scientifically it is not so. Out of 100 snakes only 10 snakes are poisonous which come out every full moon or every 14 days. When such snakes bite for the first time after coming out of the hole then it is dangerous. If such snakes bite someone then the amount of poison is more.”
The doctor said, “On the other hand, it is also a fact that when the snake’s venom gets mixed in the blood, then only it is more harmful, but if someone has eaten a snake, then the poisonous germs of the snake, which enter the stomach, are destroyed by the gastric acid present inside our stomach and generally neutralizes them.
That is why we hear that in China and many other countries people eat snakes. In many countries, snake vegetable and pickle are also made. Eating snake is not dangerous if the person eating it does not have any injury inside the mouth. If there is any injury inside the mouth of the person eating it or there is bleeding, then the effect of the snake is the same as when it bites.”
The doctor said, “There are shows in many places where people eat snakes. This is possible because the gastric acid present inside our stomach is more powerful than the snake’s venom. A snake becomes poisonous once in 14 days. If someone eats a snake when it is less poisonous, the venom gets neutralized by the gastric acid. We have kept the victim on a monitor right now. We are hoping that if there is no injury inside the victim’s mouth or no ulcer in the stomach, the venom will not have any effect.”
The case is being investigated as to why the youth took such a step. Was this a dangerous act done only under the influence of alcohol, or is there some other reason behind it, this remains a big question. This incident has become a topic of discussion among the local people and everyone is praying for the youth’s safety. Doctors are constantly monitoring his condition.
