Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar may have parted ways in Maharashtra politics, but they can still be seen together at family events. Sunday (July 3) was also such a day, when both the leaders were seen together at a family event, erasing their political distance. The occasion was the engagement of Sharad Pawar’s grandson Yugendra Pawar. Yugendra Pawar and Tanishka Kulkarni got engaged on Sunday. The Pawar family attended the traditional engagement ceremony held at Tanishka Kulkarni’s Mumbai residence on Sunday.

Apart from Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule and Rohit Pawar also attended the ceremony. Supriya Sule also shared pictures of the event, wishing the couple on the occasion. She wrote on the x, “Tanishka and Yugendra, heartiest congratulations! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness. Thank you to the Kulkarni family for the warm hospitality.” NCP split two years ago

The NCP split after Ajit Pawar joined the then Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government in July 2023. The party’s name and its election symbol, the clock, were given to Ajit Pawar’s faction, while the Sharad Pawar-led faction was named NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar).

Who is Yugendra?

Yugendra Pawar was a Sharad Pawar-led NCP candidate in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, contesting against his uncle Ajit Pawar from Baramati. However, he faced defeat and Ajit Pawar won the election. Another Pawar vs Pawar contest was seen in Baramati during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections after Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule defeated Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar.

Both leaders have been coming together in family functions
Even though Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar’s factions have parted ways in politics, the Pawar family has been coming together for family events. Earlier, the two leaders were last seen together at the wedding of Ajit Pawar’s son Jay Pawar.

The wedding was celebrated with great pomp in Pune. In April, the uncle-nephew duo was seen sharing the stage at three events. When asked about his meetings with Sharad Pawar over the past few weeks, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar downplayed their political significance and said that families come together on occasions like engagements, and there is no need to look at them from any other perspective.
