In view of 15th August and Janmashtami, slaughterhouses and meat shops will remain closed in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The Municipal Corporation in Nagpur has issued an order in this regard.

The season of festivals and celebrations has now started in India. Independence Day will be celebrated on the coming 15th of August. After this, the festival of Janmashtami is also coming up. Preparations for these special days have started in full swing across the country. Keeping these festivals in mind, a big decision has been taken in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. Here the Municipal Corporation has issued an order to keep all meat shops and slaughterhouses closed in the city on 15th August i.e. Independence Day and the festival of Krishna Janmashtami.

What is the order of the Municipal Corporation?

Nagpur Municipal Corporation has announced that all slaughterhouses and meat shops in the city will remain closed on Friday, 15th August 2025 on the occasion of Independence Day and Shri Krishna Jayanti (Janmashtami). This order has been issued by Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Bhagat. The order states that all slaughterhouses and meat shops within the limits of Nagpur Municipal Corporation will remain closed. It has also been said that action will be taken by the flying squad of the Municipal Corporation against those who violate this order.

According to scholars, this year the festival of Janmashtami will be celebrated on 16 August 2025 across the country.
