The round of political rhetoric continues regarding the result of the 2024 Maharashtra elections. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over this. He said that Rahul Gandhi had made false allegations against the Election Commission and the BJP government on the basis of CSDS data.
Devendra Fadnavis said that now that CSDS has admitted that their data was wrong and they have apologized, then Rahul Gandhi should also apologize. However, Fadnavis taunted that Rahul Gandhi is a ‘serial liar’, so it is useless to expect this from him.
He said, “It is true that the data was given by CSDS and on the basis of the same data Rahul Gandhi had made allegations against the Election Commission and at the same time he also made allegations against our legitimately elected government. Today CSDS has admitted that their data was wrong and they have apologized for their mistake. They have withdrawn all their earlier data.” Will Rahul Gandhi apologize – Devendra Fadnavis
The CM further said, “Now the question is whether Rahul Gandhi made the allegations based on the same data. Will he also apologize now? I don’t expect this, because Rahul Gandhi is a serial liar. So he will lie every day. But one thing is very clear that the truth has come out in front of the public…”

What has happened in the case so far?
The opposition has been continuously alleging rigging in the Maharashtra elections. The matter also reached the Supreme Court. The petitioner claimed that about 76 lakh fake votes were cast after the voting ended on November 20, 2024. Earlier this petition was rejected in the Bombay High Court. After this the matter reached the Supreme Court, where a demand was made to cancel the election result.
Supreme Court’s decision
The Supreme Court rejected the petitioner’s demand and clearly said that sufficient evidence of fake voting was not presented before the court. Because of this the election result cannot be canceled. The court also clarified that The democratic process cannot be questioned by merely making allegations.
