Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the ruling BJP believes in ‘astrology’ instead of ‘astronomy’ and took a dig at BJP MP Anurag Thakur’s statement calling Lord Hanuman the first astronaut, saying that all the gods are living in space. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has termed it an insult to Lord Hanuman and astrology and demanded an apology from the SP chief.
Akhilesh Yadav praised Shubhanshu
When Shubhanshu was mentioned in the press conference about his reaching Lucknow for the first time after returning from space travel, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Congratulations to him. He did a great job. How much hard work he must have had to do, how much training he must have had to undergo, only then he got this success. This is a big achievement for the country and personally for him and his family.” Pointing to the civic felicitation given to Shubhanshu by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said, “This journey has increased the respect of the entire country. The resources of the entire country are involved in this, but the BJP people are always trying to grab every credit.”
The SP chief said, ”The BJP people are saying that our Lord Hanuman was the first to go to space. We say that all the gods are living in space.” Yadav’s comment came after BJP MP Anurag Thakur’s statement on Saturday, in which he called Hanuman ji the first astronaut.
Anurag Thakur had told students at a program in Himachal Pradesh that Lord Hanuman can be considered the first person to go to space. Thakur had written on the social media platform ‘X’ on Saturday, ”Pavansut Hanuman ji is the first astronaut.” The SP chief said, ”The BJP people do not rely on astronomy, but on astrology to know which day is auspicious. Today we have to go out at this time in the evening. Today we have to go out wearing clothes of this color. So where are those people roaming around who do not believe in astronomy?” Akhilesh Yadav said, ”If we get a chance, we will definitely meet Shubhanshu. I have to talk to him about a lot of things about space.”
Brajesh Pathak’s counter-attack, demands an apology
It is worth mentioning that Shubhanshu Shukla, who became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station under the ‘Axiom-4’ mission, reached his home district Lucknow for the first time on Monday after this mission. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has accused Akhilesh Yadav of insulting Lord Hanuman and astrology and has demanded an apology from him. Pathak said in a statement that Akhilesh Yadav has once again insulted Hindu faith and Sanatan tradition. Yadav has also ridiculed India’s ancient astrology, Vedas and the knowledge of sages. Today the whole world praises Indian astrological calculations and Vedic astronomy, even NASA considers our traditions scientific. But Akhilesh Yadav is insulting India’s great tradition by calling it superstition.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, ”The person in whose government bullets were fired on Ram bhakts is today making fun of Lord Hanuman from an open stage. Akhilesh Yadav says that all our gods live in space. This statement clearly shows that he is irritated with the faith and belief in Hindu gods and goddesses. Akhilesh Yadav should apologize to the entire Hindu society for his statement. (Input- Bhasha)
