A person has been arrested for providing phone numbers of many people of Dhubri district of Assam to the radical organization Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). His name is Ali Hussain Bepari. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says that JMB is trying to create unrest in the state. He told that after getting the numbers, JMB members used to call those people with the intention of radicalizing them.
In a press conference on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the person who has been arrested is an Indian citizen, who was providing phone numbers of many people of Dhubri district to JMB, he was the main source to provide numbers. CM Sarma told that JMB members wanted to radicalize those people and used to call them for this purpose.
Strict surveillance in Dhubri and South Salmara districts
He further said that the arrested person Ali Hussain Bepari was arrested earlier as well, however he got bail and came out. CM Sarma said that strict surveillance is being maintained in Dhubri and South Salmara districts bordering Bangladesh. He said that South Salmara has been peaceful for the last five years, but in recent times there have been many activities in Dhubri. Therefore, expressing concern over the law and order situation, he has decided to continue the shoot at sight order at night during Durga Puja.
‘No case will be registered against Saida Hamid’
On the issue of former Planning Commission member Saida Hamid, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that no FIR will be registered against Saida Hamid. He said that ‘If I register an FIR, she will collect donations from different parts of the country to fight the case. This will only benefit her.’
Actually Saida Hamid had said that Bangladeshis can also live here. The Chief Minister said that if she comes back to Assam, the state government will do whatever is required as per the law. Along with this, regarding the National Register of Citizens (NRC), the CM alleged that the people of Assam have been cheated, as there are many discrepancies and many suspicious entries in the list.
