Heavy rains are continuing in Himachal Pradesh. In view of heavy rains, the administration has banned the Manimahesh Yatra. The administration has imposed this ban after three devotees died during the Yatra. All three pilgrims died on different routes. Two died on the Kugti route and one died while walking on the Hadsar route. The bodies of the deceased are being brought to Hadsar. The deceased have not been identified, it is being claimed that the dead bodies will be identified only after reaching Hadsar. Contact is not possible due to communication service being disrupted.
According to the information, five devotees have been injured after being caught in a landslide in Sundarasi. Five people injured due to landslide in Sundarasi were airlifted. After being airlifted, the injured have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Bharmour for treatment. The injured during the landslide in Sundarasi have been identified as Jameet Singh from Hamirpur, Anil Kumar from Palampur in Kangra, Harpreet from Hoshiarpur in Punjab, Ashok Kumar from Talwara and Vishwajay Dutta from Kolkata. At the same time, information is also coming that the family members of the injured are with them.
Due to the deteriorating conditions due to heavy rains and weather, the administration has also called back the officers and employees posted on the Yatra route and Mani Mahesh Dal Lake. Due to the damage to the Yatra route at many places and the bridge being washed away, the officers and employees posted there were also airlifted.
Passengers stranded due to bridge collapse
According to the administration, the bridge in Dhancho was washed away due to strong currents, due to which the passengers were stranded. The bridge has been restored and the devotees are being evacuated through footpath and helicopter. Due to clear weather, it was easy to evacuate the stranded passengers. From Wednesday morning, the helicopter took off for Gaurikund. First five injured people were airlifted and now efforts are being made to bring other passengers and staff to Bharmour.
Communication services disrupted
Due to heavy rains and landslides in Chamba district, many roads have been damaged, communication services are also disrupted. Mobile network is completely shut down in Chamba and Bharmour area for three days. This is the reason why the stranded people are not being contacted. A team to restore mobile network is not able to reach Chamba due to the closure of roads, it could reach only till Chiwari.
Administration engaged in relief and rescue
At the same time, the administration is trying to clear the Pathankot-Chamba national highway as soon as possible. So that emergency vehicles can move. Apart from this, vehicles of stranded devotees will also be evacuated. The administration is helping the devotees stranded in Chamba in every possible way. Arrangements for food and accommodation have been made for the people. However, people are facing water shortage. Water supply has not been possible for the last three days. Devotees have to buy water bottles for drinking.
