BJP leader and veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has filed a defamation case of Rs 100 crore against Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh. Ghosh is accused of linking Mithun to the chit fund scam and accusing him of selfish motives behind joining the BJP. Mithun also alleged that Kunal Ghosh spread false rumors about his son. Mithun has deposited a court fee of Rs 50,000 and has sought to restrain TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh from defaming him. The case may be heard next week.

What did Kunal Ghosh respond?

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has also reacted to the matter. Kunal Ghosh said- “I got information from the media that Mithun Chakraborty has filed a defamation case against me, that too of Rs 100 crore. I have not received any letter yet. My comment on this matter is that I have also filed a case against him. My advocate Ayan Chakraborty is ill so he has not been sent a notice yet. I have also filed a case.

Kunal Ghosh made big allegations against Mithun
TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh further said- “Mithun Dada has filed a case of Rs 100 crore against me. He is a turncoat! He changes parties at the drop of a hat. Naxalite at a young age, then Jyoti Uncle (Jyoti Basu, former Chief Minister of Bengal and CPM leader), then Shiv Sena, then said Mamata Banerjee is my sister. After that he again went to BJP. Those who change parties in such a hurry, no party respects them.”

On the defamation case, Kunal Ghosh said- “I wanted to have a face-to-face case. I don’t want to say anything about actor Mithun, he is different (while saying namaskar). But why did I say about the chit fund, I will come with the papers of all those chit funds. The defamation case will definitely be decided but before that it should be seen why I said so. All these cases should be handed over to the CBI, what are the beneficiaries, what is the income. I am connected to at least four chit funds. I was waiting. It was good that Mithun Chakraborty invited me. Mithun Chakraborty, I will now meet you in court. Remember my name Kunal Ghosh.”
