Washington: President Trump is upset with New Delhi’s growing closeness to Beijing amid the ongoing tariff dispute between India and the US. Seeing India getting closer to China, Trump has intensified his efforts to talk to PM Modi and improve relations again. Trump has made it clear through his recent statements that he will soon improve his relations with India. Meanwhile, US Ambassador-designate to India Sergio Gor has also said that bringing India to his side is his top priority.
The aim is to distance India from China – Gore
Sergio Gore said, “We will make it our top priority to bring India to our side and away from China. He also said that … even though there are some obstacles in our (India-US) relations at the moment, we are on the way to resolve them. Our relations with the Indian government and the Indian people will last for many decades to come and this relationship is much more warm than their relations with China.
China is doing expansionism
Gore said that China’s expansionism is not limited to the border of India, but is spread throughout the region … We will make it our top priority to bring India to our side and away from them (China) … In the ongoing trade talks, we want the Indian market to open for our crude oil, petroleum products and LNG. India’s middle class is larger than the entire population of America.
