What ultimatum did Trump give Hamas?
The US President had previously blamed Hamas for the delay in reaching an agreement and issued an ultimatum to Hamas. He stated that if this last chance for a deal fails, Hamas will face unprecedented consequences. He stated that peace will be achieved in some way in West Asia. Trump presented a plan to end the war in Gaza after talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week.
What is Trump’s plan?
Under Trump’s plan, Hamas will immediately release the remaining 48 hostages, of which approximately 20 are likely alive. Hamas will relinquish power in Gaza and disarm. In return, Israel will halt its attacks in Gaza and withdraw from most of Gaza, release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, and allow humanitarian aid and reconstruction. Plans to relocate most of Gaza’s population to other countries will be canceled. The area, home to approximately 2 million Palestinians, will be placed under international rule, overseen by Trump and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
