The cabinet led by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is likely to be expanded before Diwali 2025. This means that the Gujarat cabinet could undergo a reshuffle within the next five days, according to sources within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
A senior BJP leader said on Tuesday (October 14) that the state could receive approximately 10 new ministers in the cabinet expansion.
More than half of the ministers likely to be replaced
According to a report by news agency PTI, the leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that approximately half of the current ministers are likely to be replaced in the upcoming cabinet expansion and reshuffle. The state cabinet currently has 17 ministers, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, eight of whom are cabinet-level ministers.
Gujarat Cabinet Expansion Likely to Happen Before October 18
The leader said, “It is likely that approximately 50 percent of the current cabinet ministers could be replaced. The cabinet expansion or reshuffle could take place before October 18.” It is likely that Gujarat may get 10 new ministers after this expansion.

The 182-member Gujarat Assembly can have a maximum of 27 ministers. Bhupendra Patel was sworn in as Gujarat’s Chief Minister for the second time on December 12, 2022.
