Osama Shahab, son of late MP Shahabuddin, has been granted the party’s symbol to contest the elections. He will contest the assembly elections from the Raghunathpur constituency on an RJD ticket. Current MLA Harishankar Yadav has resigned from his seat to support him. This move signals the strengthening of Shahabuddin’s political legacy.

Who is Osama Shahab?
Osama Shahab was born on June 12, 1995, in Siwan. He received his early education there. He moved to Delhi for his 10th grade studies. He completed his 12th grade from GD Goenka School and then moved to London for further studies, where he completed his LLB. Osama married Ayesha, also from Siwan, in 2021. Ayesha is a doctor and holds an MBBS from Aligarh Muslim University.

Several criminal cases registered against Osama
It should be noted that Osama Shahab also has criminal cases registered against him. In 2023, he was arrested in a case in Kota, Rajasthan. The Siwan court remanded him in judicial custody. He was later granted bail. In 2023, an FIR was filed against him in Motihari for firing, attempted murder, and under the Arms Act in connection with a property dispute. He has been granted bail in this case as well.

Harishankar Yadav is the MLA from Raghunathpur.
In the 2020 elections, RJD’s Harishankar Yadav won the Raghunathpur assembly seat. He received 67,757 votes. Manoj Kumar Singh, who contested on an LJP ticket after being denied a ticket from the NDA, received 49,792 votes. JDU’s Rajeshwar Chauhan received 26,162 votes, and BSP’s Vinay Kumar Pandey received 5,295 votes.

It should be noted that Osama is Shahabuddin’s only son. His mother, Hina Shahab, contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from Siwan but lost. Subsequently, in October 2024, Osama Shahab and his mother, Hina Shahab, joined the RJD. Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav were both present at the time.
