Following the cancellation of the nomination of Shweta Suman, the RJD candidate from Mohania, the RJD has begun damage control. With the NDA contesting the seat without a candidate, the RJD has extended its support to independent candidate Ravi Shankar Paswan. Shweta Suman, who was contesting on the RJD symbol, had her nomination cancelled today.
The RJD took this step to ensure the NDA does not benefit from the cancellation. Ravi Shankar Paswan, the son of former MP Chhedi Paswan, is contesting the Mohania election as an independent. On Wednesday, Ravi Shankar Paswan met with Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. Following the meeting, the RJD officially announced its support for Ravi Shankar in the Mohania seat.
Shweta Suman’s Nomination Cancelled
The nomination of Shweta Suman, the RJD candidate from the Mohania assembly seat in Kaimur district, was cancelled today. According to reports, Shweta had declared Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh as her hometown in the 2020 assembly elections, but in this election, she has declared herself a resident of Bihar. The BJP filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding this matter. Her nomination has now been cancelled.
Suman is not the first Grand Alliance candidate to have her nomination cancelled. Previously, the nominations of three other Grand Alliance candidates have been cancelled.
Pressure on the Commission from Delhi
After her nomination was cancelled, Shweta Suman told the media that the RO and CO were under constant pressure from Delhi. She was forced to take this decision. She said she was helpless, and the BJP, PM Modi, and Amit Shah were exerting pressure. She said she would go to court. The caste certificate submitted by BJP candidate Sangeeta here is dated after the notification date. It is dated October 13th, when it should be dated earlier. We have complained, but since she is from the BJP, nothing will happen.
