The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has strongly condemned the horrific acid attack on a Delhi University (DU) student in broad daylight. According to reports, the assailants stalked the student and threw acid on her when she resisted. This incident highlights the dire state of women’s safety in the capital.
Expressing deep outrage, NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary said, “Acid was thrown on a DU student in broad daylight in Delhi. The assailants stalked her and threw acid on her when she resisted. Both the Delhi Police and the government are sleeping. If the BJP truly prioritized women’s safety, such horrific incidents would have stopped. The culprits should be immediately arrested and punished.”
Varun Chaudhary strongly criticized the Delhi Police and the BJP government, saying they have completely failed to ensure the safety of women and students. The administration’s inaction despite the ongoing incidents of harassment and violence is worrying.
He further stated that the NSUI stands firmly with the victim and her family and will continue to raise its voice until justice is served. Varun Chaudhary said that Delhi cannot be allowed to become a city where female students live in fear. Women have the right to respect, security, and freedom—not violence and neglect.
Condemnation of Acid Attack on Student
The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) condemned the acid attack on a student near Laxmibai College at Delhi University on Sunday and termed it an example of the systemic negligence and apathy of the authorities responsible for ensuring women’s safety in the capital. In a statement, the SFI said that this horrific incident has exposed the complete failure of the government, Delhi Police, and the administrative establishment to provide basic security to women, especially in and around educational institutions.
Attack right outside a women’s college is alarming
The student organization said it is alarming that such an incident occurred in broad daylight right outside a women’s college in a city where similar incidents of violence have repeatedly occurred. The SFI also cited the earlier case of a bottle of acid found near Miranda House, another women’s institution, to highlight how the threat of such violence remains constant.
