The Indian Army and IIT Gandhinagar have taken a major step toward promoting technological innovation in the country. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two countries on Tuesday (November 4) at the EME School in Vadodara. The agreement aims to enable the Army and IIT to collaborate on research, training, and solutions to meet the Army’s needs.
Major General Mohit Gandhi, Commandant, EME School, Vadodara, signed the agreement on behalf of the Army, while Professor Rajatamuna, Director, IIT Gandhinagar, signed the MoU on behalf of the institute. IIT Gandhinagar, in collaboration with the Indian Army and its affiliated institutes, will assess and address the specific needs of the Indian Army through innovation, training, internship opportunities, research, capacity and knowledge building, resource sharing, certification, technology incubation, and joint projects, aimed at meeting operational requirements and addressing the Indian Army’s problems.

Army to become technologically self-reliant
This MoU enables Army personnel to participate in IIT Gandhinagar’s academic programs, seminars, webinars, conferences, and workshops on specific technologies and expert interactions, enhancing their technical acumen. This collaboration will bridge the gap between academic research and real-world operational requirements and ensure the Army remains technologically agile and self-reliant.
Army personnel will get the opportunity to train at IIT
Under this partnership, Army officers and soldiers will now be able to participate in seminars, workshops, and courses offered by IIT Gandhinagar. This will provide them with exposure to new technologies and innovations, strengthening both their technical capabilities and thinking. IIT Gandhinagar and the Army will work together on research projects, training, internships, and technological development. This will promote indigenous technology and defense innovation in the country. This agreement is an important step towards making the Indian Army more technologically capable and self-reliant. The Army and IIT Gandhinagar will now work together to add new technology, new thinking, and self-reliance to India’s defense power.
