Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the government for detaining several people protesting at India Gate on Sunday against deteriorating air quality and questioned why citizens peacefully demanding clean air were being treated like criminals.
Rahul Gandhi said that instead of attacking citizens demanding clean air, immediate and decisive action should be taken to tackle air pollution.
The Congress MP made this comment in response to a post by environmentalist Vimalenddu Jha, in which he said that protesters were picked up and put on a bus. Several people, including environmental activists, protested at India Gate on Sunday against the deteriorating air quality in Delhi. According to the police, several protesters were detained for gathering without permission.
