A horrific incident has emerged from Maharashtra’s Sangli district. A couple, their daughter, and their three-year-old granddaughter were burned to death in a fire that broke out in their two-story home on Monday, police said.
The fire broke out in the basement of the house.
A police officer provided further details of the incident, stating that the fire broke out around 9 a.m. Monday in a shop selling utensils and electrical goods located in the basement of the house in Savarkar Nagar, Vita City. A short circuit caused the fire and it gradually spread to the first and second floors, where the family was staying.
The deceased have been identified.
Police said the exit route from the house was narrow, and the victims were unable to escape. Four members of the family were burned to death. The deceased have been identified as Vishnu Joshi (50), his wife Sunanda Joshi (46), daughter Priyanka Yogesh Ingle (30), and granddaughter Srishti (3).
One family member suffered serious burns. Another family member, Suresh Joshi (20), suffered severe burns in the fire. He has been admitted to a hospital and is receiving treatment.
