In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the NDA achieved a historic victory, while the Grand Alliance suffered a crushing defeat. Meanwhile, there were five assembly seats where the margin of victory was very narrow.
The first among these was the Sandesh assembly constituency, where JDU’s Radha Charan Shah won by a narrow margin of just 27 votes. He received 80,598 votes, while his RJD opponent, Deepu Singh, received 80,571 votes. In the Agiaon assembly constituency, BJP’s Mahesh Paswan won by just 95 votes. He received 69,412 votes, while his opponent, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) candidate Shiv Prakash Ranjan, came in a close second with 69,317 votes.
A Close Fight in Forbesganj
The third fierce contest was witnessed in the Forbesganj Assembly seat, where Congress candidate Manoj Vishwas won by a margin of 221 votes. Manoj Vishwas received a total of 120,114 votes, while BJP candidate Vidya Sagar Keshari came in second with 119,893 votes. The fourth interesting contest was in the Bodhgaya seat. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Kumar Sarvjeet won by a margin of 881 votes in Bodhgaya. He received a total of 100,236 votes, while LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Shyamdev Paswan received 99,355 votes.
Tight Competition in Bakhtiyarpur
The fifth assembly seat, Bakhtiyarpur, also witnessed a close contest, where Arun Kumar (son of Shatrughan Sao) of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won by a margin of 981 votes. He received 88,520 votes, while RJD’s Anirudh Kumar received 87,539 votes. These five seats saw extremely close contests.
This time in the Bihar elections, the BJP managed to win 89 seats. Nitish Kumar’s JDU secured 85 seats. The RJD’s victory in just 25 seats is surprising, especially considering that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was declared the Chief Ministerial face of the Grand Alliance.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal was reduced to 25 seats, while the Congress secured only six. The CPI (ML) Liberation won two, the Inclusive Party one, and the CPM one. The AIMIM won five seats, while the BSP won one.
People cast their votes, ignoring casteism: Vinod Tawde
Bihar BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde said, “This time, the people of Bihar cast their votes, ignoring casteism, with Prime Minister Modi in mind. The Bihar election results have made one thing clear: Rahul Gandhi’s vote-stealing issue is now completely over. Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, who used to mobilize people to vote in the name of casteism, failed to do so.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray said on the NDA’s victory in Bihar, “First of all, I would like to congratulate the Election Commission for their experiment with the BJP, which seems to be successful. People expressed confidence in PM Modi and Nitish Kumar: Vijay Kumar Sinha
After winning the Lakhisarai assembly seat, Deputy CM and BJP candidate Vijay Kumar Sinha said, “I thank the people of Lakhisarai and Bihar. You have increased the respect of Biharis. Bihar will become developed. People have expressed confidence in Prime Minister Modi and Nitish Kumar.” Tejashwi Yadav had said, “Take it down, Vijay Kumar Sinha will not win.” But today the people of Lakhisarai have not only given him a reply, but also slapped him in the face.
