Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced that life-saving injections like Tenecteplase and Streptokinase will now be administered free of charge to heart attack patients in government hospitals.

The market price of a single dose of these injections ranges from 35,000 to 45,000 rupees. During a heart attack, these drugs dissolve blood clots in the heart veins within 30 to 90 minutes. If these injections are administered within the first six hours (the golden hour) of an attack, 70-80% of lives can be saved. The Deputy Chief Minister has strictly instructed the department to ensure that no patient dies due to lack of funds.

In the first phase, this free treatment has been launched in all 75 district hospitals, medical colleges, and community health centers (CHCs) with ECG facilities. Major institutions like KGMU Lucknow, Lohia Institute, SGPGI Lucknow, BHU Varanasi, Saifai Medical University, and AMU Aligarh have already implemented it. Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak directed the department to ensure that no hospital runs out of stock. Director General of Health Dr. Ratanpal Singh Suman has issued strict instructions to all CMOs.

What did the Deputy CM say?

Regarding this, the Deputy CM said, “Treating the poor is our responsibility. Whether it’s an injection costing 40,000 or an operation costing crores, the Yogi government will provide it for free. If you experience chest pain, immediately dial 108 or go to the nearest government hospital. Now, a heart attack doesn’t mean death; it means free treatment and a new life.” Preparations are underway to soon introduce this facility in 108 ambulances as well.
