A heated argument during a “drinking party” on Tuesday night in the Yeoor area of Thane district, Maharashtra, resulted in the death of one man. Police arrested the deceased’s friend on Wednesday in connection with the murder.
An officer from the Vartaknagar police station said the incident occurred on Tuesday night at a private bungalow in Yeoor, which was looked after by the accused. The deceased has been identified as Bhanu Prasad Singh (50), while the arrested accused has been identified as Rajkumar Yadav (27), the caretaker of the bungalow.
Party held at the bungalow
According to the police, Rajkumar Yadav had invited Bhanu Prasad Singh to the bungalow, where the two began drinking alcohol that night. Soon, a heated argument broke out between them over some issue, and the situation escalated to the point where they started verbally abusing each other.
Fatal attack with a mop handle
The officer stated that during the fight, Rajkumar Yadav became violent. Yadav allegedly picked up the handle of a floor-cleaning mop and struck Bhanu Prasad Singh forcefully on the head with it. Due to the severe head injury, Singh collapsed and died on the spot.
Police arrest the accused
Upon receiving information about the incident, police from the Vartaknagar police station arrived at the scene. The police immediately took the accused, Rajkumar Yadav, into custody and later registered a case of murder against him and arrested him. Singh’s body has been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. The police also stated that the bungalow where Yadav worked belongs to a local businessman.
