Damoh: In Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, Sitaram, a BLO engaged in voter list revision (SIR) work, suddenly fell ill while on duty. He died while being taken for treatment. The incident occurred on Friday while he was filling out the counting form. It is being reported that he had been mentally disturbed due to the lack of work.
Health Deteriorated While On Duty
According to reports, Sitaram Gaur was a teacher in the village of Ranjra in the Damoh Assembly constituency. He was engaged in SIR work. Sitaram Gaur was approximately 50 years old and a resident of Pathari Bandakpur. When his health deteriorated, he was first taken to the Damoh District Hospital, but due to his critical condition, he was referred to Jabalpur, where he died.
BLO Dies in Raisen
Another BLO, Ramakant Pandey, also died in Raisen district. Electoral Registration Officer Chandrashekhar Srivastava stated that Ramakant Pandey, a teacher from the Satlapur area, was working on a voter list verification campaign in Mandideep. He died late Friday night due to some illness. When asked about the exact cause of Pandey’s death, he said, “We are awaiting the postmortem report.”
Ramakant Pandey’s wife, Rekha, and other family members told officials that he was posted at a primary school in Tilakheri and was assigned to the intensive revision of the voter list. They claimed that he was struggling with a heavy workload, forcing him to work long hours each night to complete the assigned task. They claimed that Pandey received constant instructions over the phone to complete the work. Rekha Pandey claimed that targets were not met and he had not slept for the past four nights. She said that her husband was afraid of suspension. SDO Srivastava stated that Pandey’s family members would receive assistance and compassionate appointment as per the rules.
BLO’s health deteriorates while on duty
Meanwhile, in Agar Malwa, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) engaged in the Special Revision of Voter Lists (SIR) work, fell ill while on duty. The BLO from Pachora village, a government teacher by profession, suffered a sudden heart attack and was admitted to a private hospital in Ujjain.
According to reports, Mukesh Pejwal, a teacher posted at a government school, has been continuously engaged in SIR work for the past several days. On Friday, Deputy Tehsildar Bhagirath Chauhan visited the village and gave instructions to expedite the revision work. Meanwhile, due to the stress of his duties, the teacher’s health suddenly deteriorated and he was immediately referred to Ujjain, where he is undergoing treatment.
