Several jackals escaped from their enclosures in Delhi Zoo and fled into the surrounding forest, raising questions about the zoo’s security.

An incident has been reported at the Delhi Zoo, where some jackals escaped from their enclosure into the surrounding forest on Saturday night, prompting forest officials to search for them. It is reported that some jackals escaped from their enclosure into the surrounding forest at the Delhi National Zoological Park. One of the jackals has been captured, but several others remain at large.

On Saturday morning, three to four jackals were spotted in the dense forest and fled to the off-display jackal holding zone near Azimganj Sarai in Beat No. 10 of the National Zoological Park. Officials stated that one jackal has been captured and returned to the enclosure, while the team is continuing to locate the remaining animals. Staff have been deployed to bring the animals back to the enclosure.

A tranquilization team has also been deployed.

A tranquilization team has also been deployed. According to a statement issued by the administration, trap cages have been installed. Officials said that zoo teams have been deployed throughout the forest area to locate the animals and safely return them to their enclosures. The Joint Director of the National Zoological Park has been instructed to investigate the entire matter and submit a detailed report detailing the incident.

Deers had previously escaped from the enclosure.
It was also reported that the enclosure’s boundary is made of thick iron mesh, but the mesh on the Azimganj Sarai side has been broken in several places for a long time. Therefore, it is possible that the jackals may have escaped through this route. Previously, in June, about six deer from Beat No. 15 of the zoo had escaped from the enclosure and were seen roaming freely. Although the deer were captured within a few hours, the jackals have not yet been captured and are still being searched for.
