A new era of fast centuries has begun in Indian T20 cricket. On November 14, 2025, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history by scoring a century in 32 balls in Doha. He set the world record for scoring two T20 centuries in 35 balls or less. This feat had never been achieved before, and it was thought that this record would remain unbroken for a long time. But Abhishek Sharma equaled Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s world record in just 16 days.
Abhishek Sharma Hits Historic Century
Punjab captain Abhishek Sharma’s explosive innings against Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 has now put him on par with Vaibhav. Abhishek reached his century in just 32 balls, hitting 7 fours and 11 amazing sixes. His strike rate was also 321.88. This is Abhishek’s second T20I century in 35 balls or less.
Last year, in the same tournament, he scored a century in 28 balls. Now, he has become the second batsman in the world, along with Vaibhav Suryavanshi, to score two T20I centuries at such a rapid pace. Abhishek Sharma scored a total of 148 runs in this innings, facing 52 balls and hitting 8 fours and 16 sixes.
It is worth noting that Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a century in 32 balls against the United Arab Emirates in his first match of the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 in Doha. He played a total of 144 runs in 42 balls. Previously, he had scored a century in 35 balls during the IPL 2025, playing this innings against the Gujarat team.
Equals Rohit Sharma
This is Abhishek Sharma’s 8th century in T20 cricket. With this, he has joined Rohit Sharma in the second-highest number of centuries scored by an Indian in T20 cricket. Rohit also has eight centuries in T20 cricket. Virat Kohli leads the list with nine.
