A controversy continues to rage over Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury bringing a dog into the Parliament premises. There are demands to bring a privilege motion against her. Meanwhile, another interesting incident involving Renuka Chowdhury occurred in the Parliament premises today. In fact, there are reports that the Rajya Sabha is considering initiating a privilege motion against Renuka Chowdhury for her recent comments related to dogs. When questioned about the privilege motion, Renuka Chowdhury simply responded with a “woof-woof” and walked away. Later, she said that she would respond when the motion is brought forward.
What is the whole matter?
The controversy began when Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury arrived at Parliament on Monday with a stray dog in her car, leading to accusations from ruling party MPs that she was staging a drama. Amidst the controversy, Renuka said that “the people sitting inside bite, not the dogs.” Renuka Chowdhury had said, “Is there any law against this? I was coming on the road. There was a collision between a scooter and a car. This puppy was wandering on the road ahead. I thought it would get hit. So I picked it up, put it in the car, came to Parliament, and sent it back. The car left, and the dog also left. So what is the point of discussing this?”
Parliament’s dignity and decorum have been hurt – BJP
The BJP has strongly objected to this entire incident involving Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury. BJP MP Sambit Patra alleged that Congress leaders have hurt the dignity and decorum of Parliament and insulted all the MPs, security personnel, officers, and other employees working there. Some ruling party MPs have demanded that a privilege motion be brought against Renuka Chowdhury regarding this incident.
