Twenty-five people have died in a fire at a nightclub in Goa. Following the incident, BJP MLA Michael Lobo has demanded a safety audit of all nightclubs in Goa. The BJP MLA expressed deep sorrow over the fire incident.
People were working in the nightclub’s basement
Michael Lobo said, “I am disturbed by this incident. 25 people have been burnt alive, including three women and 20 men. Some are tourists, while most are locals who were working in the basement of the restaurant. We need to conduct a safety audit of all other clubs in Goa, which is very important.”
Tourists consider Goa a safe destination
The BJP MLA further said, “Tourists have always considered Goa a very safe destination, but this fire incident is very disturbing. Such incidents should not happen in the future. The safety of tourists and the workers in these establishments is paramount. Most people died due to suffocation while trying to escape towards the basement.”
CM expresses grief
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also expressed deep sorrow over the Arpora fire incident. The CM called it a very sad day for the state and ordered an investigation into the incident. He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
All bodies recovered
Meanwhile, Goa DGP Alok Kumar said that the police received an alert shortly after midnight. An unfortunate incident occurred at a nightclub in Arpora. The police control room received information about the fire at 12:04 AM, and the police, fire department, and ambulances immediately reached the spot. The fire has now been brought under control, and all the bodies have been recovered.”
Cause of fire being investigated
According to officials, 25 people died in a massive fire at a restaurant-cum-club in Arpora. The fire was reported around midnight, and emergency teams rushed to the spot. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while officials worked throughout the night to bring the situation under control. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the cause of the fire.
