Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at an event on Saturday that India is today the world’s fastest-growing major economy. It is being described as a global growth engine. The country is being called a global powerhouse. PM Modi said that the term ‘Hindu rate of growth,’ used to describe India’s low growth rate from the 1950s to the 1980s, reflects a mindset of slavery and an attempt to portray the entire society as unproductive. PM Modi said that this mindset of slavery has harmed governance in India for a long time.

PM Modi said that unfortunately, long years of slavery had shaken India’s self-confidence. The mentality of slavery has created a major obstacle in the vision of a developed India. PM Modi said that therefore, today’s India is working to free itself from the mentality of slavery. PM Modi said that the British knew very well that if they wanted to rule India for a long time, they would have to snatch away the self-confidence of the Indians. They would have to instill a sense of inferiority in the Indians. And that is exactly what the British did. PM Modi said that it is not the Hindu rate of growth anymore, but the Hindustan rate of growth.

No Communalism Seen
Addressing a summit, PM Modi criticized opposition parties and so-called intellectuals who “find communalism in everything” and asked if they did not see communalism in the term ‘Hindu rate of growth,’ which later found its way into books and research papers.

PM Modi said that the policy of Macaulay, which sowed the seeds of mental slavery in India, must be completely eradicated in the next 10 years. This is my appeal to all 140 crore countrymen. PM Modi said that I always say that we are not people who follow the beaten path. For a better future, we have to draw a bigger line for ourselves.

PM Modi said that we have to find solutions in the present while keeping in mind the future needs of the country. Prime Minister Modi said that if missions like Make in India, the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) campaign, and the PM Surya Ghar free electricity scheme had been started 4-5 decades ago, India’s picture would be completely different today.
