Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has prepared to offer ‘Shukrana’ (thanksgiving) for the grand and successful three-day ‘Gurmat Samagam’ held in the courtyard of the historic Red Fort to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Chief Minister, along with her entire cabinet, will visit Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar on Monday, December 8th, to pay their respects.

The Chief Minister stated that it was only with the blessings of Darbar Sahib that such a large religious event was successfully concluded in the capital city of Delhi. Approximately 600,000 devotees participated in the three-day program and received the blessings of the Guru Sahib, which is a record. The Chief Minister said that this act of offering ‘Shukrana’ to Guru Sahib is a mark of respect from the Delhi government towards the Sikh community and a tribute to Delhi’s shared heritage, acknowledging that even in difficult times, the Guru’s light guides and unites everyone.

President and Home Minister pay respects to Guru Sahib
The Chief Minister stated that the three-day Gurmat Samagam at the Red Fort from November 23rd to 25th has established itself as one of the grandest and most historic religious events in independent India. The dignity of this event was further enhanced when President Droupadi Murmu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other dignitaries visited the Red Fort and paid their respects to Guru Sahib. In their messages, the dignitaries described the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as a moral pillar of Indian civilization.

Guru Bani in the Mega Kirtan Darbar
The Chief Minister said that the main features of this Gurmat Samagam included a grand Kirtan Darbar, a historic martyrdom procession, an exhibition in the museum, and a light and sound show. The melodious Kirtan of Guru Bani in the mega Kirtan Darbar, organized by Ragi Jathas from India and abroad, filled the atmosphere with spiritual energy. The congregations participated in the Akhand Paths with great devotion and collectively recited Gurbani upon the completion of the series of Sri Sahaj Paths. The CM said that during the event, the sacred form of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji was brought from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib to the historic Red Fort in a palanquin. He also informed that on the widespread demand of the devotees, the Delhi government had extended the duration of the museum exhibition and the light and sound show till November 30, so that more and more people could connect with this historical presentation.
