A second arrest has been made in connection with the land scam case involving Parth Pawar, son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, in Pune, Maharashtra. Ravindra Taru, the Deputy Registrar of the Revenue Department, was arrested on Sunday. He had been absconding for about two months. It is alleged that Ravindra Taru registered land worth Rs. 1800 crore for Parth Pawar’s Amedia company for only Rs. 267 crore. Ravindra also allegedly waived the stamp duty in violation of the law.
On September 6, Pune police registered a case at the Bavdhan police station on charges of stamp duty evasion. The case was filed against Sheetal Tejwani, the land seller, Digvijay Patil, Parth Pawar’s partner and uncle in Amedia company, and co-sub-registrar Ravindra Taru. After the arrest of Sheetal Tejwani, sub-registrar Ravindra Taru has also been arrested. The question now arises as to when the third person will be arrested. The police claim that other accused in the case will also be arrested soon.
Stamp Duty of Rs. 500 on a Rs. 300 Crore Transaction
It is alleged that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, through his Amedia company, transacted 40 acres of land in Koregaon Park. Several objections have been raised regarding the transaction, including the fact that only Rs. 500 in stamp duty was collected on a transaction worth Rs. 267 crore. This is a case of collusion to embezzle Rs. 5 crore 89 lakh 31 thousand 800 in stamp duty from the government. When the matter came to light in the media, there was a huge uproar. The opposition attacked both Ajit Pawar and the BJP government.

In this case, a total of eight people, including suspended Tehsildar Suryakant Yewale and Ravindra Taru, have been booked.
