Supreme Court On AAP Office: The Supreme Court expressed its displeasure over the running of the office of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on the land allotted to Delhi High Court. The Supreme Court has ordered the Delhi government to vacate this land.

During the hearing, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has said that no one can be allowed to break the law. The office of Aam Aadmi Party is running on a plot of Rouse Avenue allotted to Delhi High Court. Earlier this was the residence of the Transport Minister of Delhi, but later AAP made it its office.

This came to light during the hearing of the case related to improving the court facilities. Amicus Curiae said that the concerned authorities had tried to vacate the place, but they did not get success.

What order did the Supreme Court give?
The Supreme Court ordered the Chief Secretary of Delhi to hold a meeting with the Secretary of the Public Works Department, the Finance Secretary and the Registrar General of the High Court. All the officials should find a solution to remove this encroachment.

What argument did the Delhi government give?
Delhi government’s lawyer tried to defend the case, but the court said that they will have to return this land to the Delhi High Court. The court has asked to decide till the next hearing as to when AAP will be made to vacate this office.
