Thailand-Cambodia Conflict: Just hours after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire, Cambodia has leveled serious accusations against Thailand. Cambodia claims that despite the ceasefire agreement, Thailand continued to launch airstrikes on its territory. These allegations threaten to escalate tensions once again in this sensitive border region of Southeast Asia.

The Cambodian Ministry of Defense stated in a statement released on the social media platform ‘X’ that the Thai army launched new attacks on its territory on Saturday. According to the statement, “On December 13, 2025, the Thai army used two F-16 fighter jets to drop seven bombs on several locations inside Cambodia.” The ministry also stated that the bombing by Thai military aircraft has not stopped despite the ceasefire announcement.

No response from Thailand

There has been no official response from Thai authorities regarding Cambodia’s allegations. However, the already existing exchange of accusations between the two countries has made the situation even more volatile.

Trump announced the ceasefire

Cambodia’s latest allegations come just a day after US President Donald Trump announced that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to cease hostilities and reinstate a ceasefire. This agreement was reached after several days of deadly clashes that threatened to break the previously established ceasefire.

Donald Trump stated in a social media post that he had separate conversations with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. He also said that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim played a key role in making this agreement possible.

First ceasefire in July

It is worth noting that the first ceasefire between the two countries was reached in July, brokered by Malaysia. This agreement was facilitated after pressure from Trump, who warned that trade privileges could be withdrawn if the terms were not followed. The agreement was formalized in more detail at a regional meeting in Malaysia in October, which President Trump also attended.

According to Bloomberg News, Thailand said that 10 of its soldiers were killed and dozens wounded in the recent violence. Cambodia, meanwhile, reported that 10 civilians, including a child, were killed and at least 60 injured. However, Cambodia did not release figures for military casualties.
