Jaunpur: Naushad Ahmed Dubey, the district chairman of Vishal Bharat Sansthan, said that his ancestors were Lal Bahadur Dubey and that they had migrated from Azamgarh district to Jaunpur.

In Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim family set an example of family roots, shared traditions, and social harmony by including their former Hindu family surname on the invitation card for the post-wedding feast (Dawat-e-Walima). This gesture has garnered significant attention.

After the wedding of Mohammad Khalid Dubey from Dehri village in Kerakat tehsil of Jaunpur district, a “Dawat-e-Walima,” known as “Bahu Bhoj” in Hindu tradition, was organized in his village on Sunday.

Hindu Surname on the Bahu Bhoj Card
The ceremony was organized by Khalid’s father’s elder brother, Naushad Ahmed Dubey. The invitation card for the Bahu Bhoj, held on Sunday, clearly mentioned both “Dawat-e-Walima” and “Bahu Bhoj.” The envelope of the card read, “You are cordially invited to the auspicious occasion of the wedding and Bahu Bhoj (Dawat-e-Walima) of Khalid Dubey, an 8th-generation descendant of Shri Lal Bahadur Dubey, a landlord from 1669 AD.”

Naushad Ahmed Dubey is the district chairman of the Vishal Bharat Sansthan. Explaining the reason behind using the Dubey surname, Naushad Ahmed Dubey said, “Our ancestors were Lal Bahadur Dubey, and we all migrated here from Azamgarh district.”

He added, “When we traced our ancestral roots, we found that we all belonged to the Dubey caste in Azamgarh. Therefore, our caste remains the same. Our ancestors changed their religion, not their caste, because caste cannot be changed. Why would we forcibly change something that cannot be changed? We don’t know what circumstances led to the adoption of this surname at that time, but we feel a sense of belonging to it.”

Distinguished Guests at the Ceremony
The ceremony was attended by guests from religious, social, and cultural fields, making it a special occasion. Among the many distinguished guests present at this much-discussed Bahu Bhoj (Dawat-e-Walima) were Jagatguru Baba Balakdas Devacharya Maharaj of Patal Puri Peeth, Mahant Jagdishwar Das, Nazneen Ansari, a member of the Urdu Council of the Government of India, and Rajiv Guru, the national president of Vishal Bharat Sansthan. Naushad said that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) national office-bearers Krishna Gopal and Indresh Kumar called him to congratulate him on the wedding reception.
