After the conclusion of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s winter session, the opposition held a press conference today and launched a strong attack on the government. While the opposition is trying to corner the government by raising various serious issues, the ruling party is also retaliating aggressively. Meanwhile, the opposition has strongly raised the allegations against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, in an alleged land scam in Pune.
Senior Congress leader and former Leader of the Opposition, Vijay Wadettiwar, issued a direct warning to the government on this issue and made sarcastic remarks. He said, “It’s not ‘I won’t eat, nor will I let others eat,’ but rather, ‘We’ll divide it in half and eat it.'”
‘Attack on the Government’s Policy and Intentions’
Addressing the press conference, Vijay Wadettiwar directly attacked the government’s policy and intentions. He took a dig at Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s alleged motto, saying, “If the fence itself starts eating the crop, and it’s clearly visible… I was saying yesterday, ‘I won’t eat, nor will I let others eat,’ but [now] whatever is available will be divided in half and eaten.”
Wadettiwar alleged that despite raising questions related to Parth Pawar, no answer was given during the session, and the Chief Minister also remained silent on the issue, which can be considered a kind of ‘clean chit’ to Parth Pawar.
Attack in the Name of Competitive Exams
To corner the government on the issue of corruption, Wadettiwar adopted a unique approach. He sarcastically said that the opposition would soon conduct a general knowledge exam at the Maharashtra level, in which children would be asked questions like: “Where does the biggest eater go?” “Where do those who commit the most corruption get opportunities?” He said that if someone has completely lost all sense of shame, there is no cure for them. But he clearly warned that this issue would not end here, and the opposition would continue to raise it.
‘They have decided to loot Maharashtra’
Wadettiwar claimed that even though the opposition’s numbers in the assembly are low, their strength has not diminished. He alleged that the government does not respond to issues related to corruption because those “who have become accustomed to corruption” have decided to continue their looting.
He launched a scathing attack, saying, “They will commit corruption, they will be involved in scams, and then they will turn around and question the opposition, asking why they didn’t raise these issues in the session? This is what’s going on.”
