Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar removed the veil from a woman’s face who was wearing a burqa and niqab during a public event, drawing a strong reaction from Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora, the patron of Jamiat Dawatul Muslimeen and a Deobandi cleric.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again landed in controversy. He removed the veil from a woman’s face who was wearing a burqa and niqab during a public event. Jamiat Dawatul Muslimeen patron and Deobandi cleric Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora has strongly reacted to this incident.

He described the entire incident as shameful and reprehensible. The Maulana said that this is not just about one woman, but a serious issue concerning the respect and privacy of women across the country.

Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora said that interfering with a woman’s attire without her consent is completely wrong. What a woman wears is her personal and constitutional right. Whether it’s a niqab, burqa, saree, or any other attire, no one has the right to forcibly violate a woman’s privacy. He said that when such an act is committed by a senior leader in power, the matter becomes even more serious.

Accusation of anti-women mindset
Maulana Gora described this incident as a blatant example of an anti-women mindset. He said that such incidents send the wrong message to society and create a sense of insecurity among women.

He questioned how the safety and respect of ordinary women can be guaranteed if a Chief Minister can violate a woman’s dignity on a public platform.

The Maulana said that Islam places the honor and respect of women above all else. Similarly, the Constitution of India also grants every citizen, especially women, the right to live with dignity and freedom. Therefore, this incident is not only morally wrong but also against the spirit of the Constitution.

Demand for Prime Minister’s intervention
Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in this matter. He said that the Prime Minister should take cognizance of this incident and send a clear message to the country that the humiliation of women will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He believes that a strong reaction from the top leadership will set the right example in society.

Nitish Kumar should apologize – Maulana
The Maulana also said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should not just offer an explanation, but should publicly apologize to the woman concerned and to all the women of the country. This apology should not be given under any pressure, but out of moral responsibility.
