Under the new decision, five more countries have been added to the list of countries subject to a complete travel ban, while citizens of several other countries face partial restrictions. This step has been taken in the name of strengthening US security.

This decision by the Trump administration comes at a time when an Afghan national was recently arrested in connection with a shooting incident involving two National Guard soldiers during Thanksgiving weekend. Following this, the US government once again emphasized the need to tighten entry standards. Officials say this decision is a step taken to strengthen the country’s security and immigration policy.

Which countries are affected by the ban?
Earlier in June, President Trump announced that citizens of 12 countries would be completely banned from entering the US, while citizens of seven other countries would be allowed to travel under strict conditions. At that time, the travel ban list included Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. Citizens of Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela faced partial restrictions.

Which new countries have been added to the ban list?
Now, on Tuesday, the Trump administration further expanded this list. According to the new announcement, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria have been brought under the complete travel ban. In addition, travel to the US is now completely banned for individuals holding travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority. Furthermore, the US has added 15 more countries to the list of countries facing partial restrictions. These include Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Dominica, Gabon, Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
