Panic erupted at the Central Jail in Ludhiana when a fight suddenly broke out between two groups of inmates. The jail superintendent, who arrived to control the situation, was also injured.

Ludhiana: A clash between two groups of inmates has been reported inside Ludhiana Central Jail. According to reports, an argument between two groups of prisoners escalated into a fight around 8 pm on Tuesday night, causing chaos inside the jail. Sources indicate that jail officials who arrived to control the situation were also attacked by the inmates. Jail Superintendent Kulwant Sidhu sustained serious head injuries in the attack and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. It is alleged that an inmate attacked him on the head with a brick, causing severe injuries.

Police take control
The police force has now taken control of the situation, and everything is under control inside the jail. Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, who visited the jail to assess the situation, stated that the fight occurred between two groups of inmates, but the reason and cause of the fight are still under investigation.

Attack with bricks
According to the police, approximately seven inmates from one group and ten from the other attacked each other with bricks from the boundary walls around the plants inside the jail. The police have not yet disclosed the total number of inmates injured in the clash.

Jail Minister demands detailed report
According to sources, Punjab Jail Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar has been informed of the incident and has sought a detailed report from jail authorities. People outside the jail premises claimed that sirens could be heard from inside the jail for about 20 minutes. Several senior police and jail administration officials arrived at the scene, and additional police forces were deployed.
