Bulandshahr: In an encounter between police and criminals in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, early this morning, police killed Azad, a robber carrying a reward of Rs. 50,000. Police were searching for Azad in connection with a robbery case in the Bulandshahr Kotwali Dehat area. He was a resident of Meerut. Azad’s accomplice managed to escape during the encounter, and police are currently searching for him.
Criminals opened fire during checking
According to the police, a police team from Kotwali Dehat police station was checking vehicles near Syana Road, Jasnavali, late at night when two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle were spotted. They were signaled to stop. Despite the police’s signal, the criminals did not stop and instead opened fire on the police team before quickly turning their motorcycle around and fleeing. The police team informed other police stations in the district via radio. While pursuing the criminals, they reached Selton Bamba Road, where they were joined by police forces from Gulawathi police station.
Injured criminal dies in retaliatory firing
When the criminals found themselves surrounded by the police, they fired at the police team with the intention of killing them. In the retaliatory firing by the police team in self-defense, one criminal was injured by a bullet, while the other managed to escape under the cover of darkness. A search operation is underway to apprehend him.
A police officer was also injured in the firing by the criminals. The injured criminal and the police officer were immediately sent to the district hospital for treatment, where doctors declared the criminal dead. The deceased criminal has been identified as Azad alias Zubair alias Peter (age 35 years), son of Munne Khan alias Ghasita, resident of Umar Garden Colony, Shyam Nagar, Lisari Gate, Meerut district. An illegal firearm (pistol), live and spent cartridges, and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.
