What did Sheikh Hasina say?
In an email interview with ANI, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commented on the ICT’s decision, saying, “This decision has nothing to do with justice and is entirely a matter of political vendetta. I was not given the right to defend myself, nor was I allowed to choose a lawyer of my choice. The tribunal was used to take revengeful action against the Awami League. However, my faith in Bangladesh’s institutions has not been shaken. Our constitutional traditions are strong, and when legitimate rule is restored and our judiciary regains its independence, justice will prevail.”
