Claim of over 96% punctuality in some leading divisions
According to the railways, 22 divisions achieved over 90% punctuality during this period, while some leading divisions recorded figures above 96%. Railway officials stated that improved operational management, real-time monitoring, and coordinated efforts have increased the reliability of train services and provided passengers with a smoother travel experience. The railways claim that this improvement has not only reduced delays but has also made train operations on the network smoother than before.

One user reacted to the railway’s claim on the social media platform X, writing, “That ‘on-time’ arrival is not real. It’s just managed on paper. Pick any train and check the timetable. Look at the travel time between the second-to-last stop and the last station. They quietly add an extra hour there. So, even if the train is running hours late at previous stations, this buffer time adjusts the delay. On paper, the train arrives ‘on time,’ but in reality, it’s nowhere near on time. Smart trick. Some users also blamed the fog

However, some users also agreed with the train delays during this foggy weather, citing safety concerns. They argued that it’s better to reach the destination safely, considering the fog. A user named Aditya wrote, “Track maintenance, especially deep and shallow ballast screening, is done during the winter months, and this disrupts train movement. This isn’t possible during the rainy season, so that’s also a reason. Fog and low visibility also cause congestion on the tracks, leading to delays on frequently used routes.”
