Before Rahman’s return, a bomb attack near a church in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday (December 24) killed one person. This incident has raised serious security concerns in the capital. Violence has intensified in Bangladesh since the death of student leader Usman Hadi. Mobs also set fire to the offices of two leading newspapers in the country, the Daily Star and Prothom Alo.
