Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a resounding victory in the elections to four urban local bodies (town panchayats) and two ward-level by-elections in Karnataka. The results of these elections, held on December 21, were declared on Wednesday. These elections were held for the first time after several gram panchayats were upgraded to town panchayats four years ago. The BJP has attributed this impressive victory to public anger against the failures and mismanagement of the ruling Congress government in the state.
BJP secures clear majority in all four town panchayats

Vijayendra Yediyurappa targets Congress government
Reacting to the results, Karnataka BJP unit president BY Vijayendra Yediyurappa said that these victories reflect the public’s dissatisfaction with the performance of the Congress government. He said that the people have completely rejected the failures and mismanagement of the Congress government. Vijayendra said, “The BJP’s resounding victory in the four urban local body (Town Panchayat) elections in Bajpe, Kinnigoli, Mankki, and Basettihalli, along with the victories in two ward by-elections in Doddaballapur and Turvihal, clearly shows that the people of Karnataka have completely rejected the failures and mismanagement of the Congress government.”
BL Santosh also extends congratulations
BJP National General Secretary (Organization) BL Santosh also praised the party’s performance. He described it as part of a long series of BJP victories in local body elections across the country. Santosh posted on X, “BJP continues its winning streak in local body elections across the country. This happened today in Karnataka, where the Congress is in power and the elections were held using ballot papers. Under the leadership of State President BY Vijayendra, the BJP team achieved a resounding victory in all 5 Town Panchayats and 2 ward by-elections.” These victories for the BJP are considered a major setback for the Congress in Congress-ruled Karnataka.
