Chandrakumar Bose, the great-grandson of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has written a letter to President Droupadi Murmu requesting that Netaji’s remains be brought back to India. He wrote that Netaji’s remains are kept at the Renkoji Temple in Japan. The government has been appealed to several times before to bring them back to India. However, previous attempts to bring Netaji’s remains to India have been unsuccessful, but Chandrakumar Bose now has hope that President Murmu will be able to facilitate this.

Chandra Kumar Bose’s Letter
In his letter, Chandra Kumar Bose wrote, “Your Excellency, I am writing to you as a member of the family of Sarat Chandra Bose and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and I wish to put forward a proposal to you to further commemorate their legacy for the present and future generations of India. As you may know, on October 21, 2025, we celebrated the eight decades of the establishment of the Provisional Government of Azad Hind by Netaji in Singapore. I have learned that there is a plan to build an Indian National Army (INA) memorial at a suitable location in Delhi to honor the soldiers who launched the final assault on British imperialism and to commemorate Netaji’s famous slogan ‘Chalo Delhi’ (March to Delhi). You are also aware that Netaji’s remains are kept in the Renkoji Temple in Tokyo, Japan. For decades, the veterans of the INA, along with Netaji’s daughter, Professor Anita Bose-Pfaff, and other family members, have repeatedly approached the Government of India to bring back the remains of this hero to his motherland. We appeal to you to take a positive step in this matter.”
